Back on the Bike: Part Two

The sun and warmth has returned to the Pacific Northwest, and that means breaking out the old bike and getting back into it.  Haven't riden since last summer so naturally it's going to take a bit to get back into form.

I also found this great Windows Phone app (also available on most smart phones), Endomondo.  Take your phone with you and it tracks your route via GPS.  So it follows your location on the map, tracks your speed, duration, elevation, etc...  The great thing about the app though, if you are wearing headphones, it will call out your mile points, tell you your time and also gives you a mile time also.  I'm also assuming when you build up your history it will probably try and push you to do better by comparing your previous mile times.  Saves me time having to look down at my bike computer for my miles, time, etc...  So far on my first ride with this on my Windows Phone it barely affected my battery life.  That's with pulling GPS data and listening to music in the background.  Oh another great feature, it tracks what songs you played!  So you can go back into your history and see what music was playing during that workout.

It also provides a social aspect.  Providing you the ability to friend people from your email contacts or Facebook.  You can challenge your friends with your workouts, or see how they are progressing.  A nice integration.

Can't wait to build up my ride history in this and see how I do throughout the summer.

So far I have to recommend this app if you run, bike, or really anything!
